The color pages in the old Ladies Home Journals definitely tended to focus on “church clothes”, party frocks, college girl fashions, and other particularly stylish outfits. I think that there are also black and white drawings of “house dresses”–I probably just didn’t think they looked very interesting when selecting pictures. But your comment makes me realize that I’m skipping an important part of the fashion history. I’ll have to go back and find some. It may be a couple weeks until I get a chance to do this–but stay tuned for some featured house dresses.

Oh fantastic Sheryl, I’ll look forward to that. I’m a bit of a Betty Crocker at heart I guess.
